Looks like it’s back to the market again for this sophisticated home, located in a very secluded little corner of Red Mountain, just across the Old Montgomery Highway cut from Vulcan himself.

Relisted at $1.25 million on June 1 (the house had been on the market late last winter and this spring), this place has it all–except for a decent public school system, of course.  Nevertheless, the late 1930′s era house is impeccably done inside–yours truly thinks it looks like someone in the office of starchitect Bobby McAlpine might have had something to do with the interiors, or at least someone heavily influenced thereby.

[The living and dining rooms both are lovely...furnished and staged perfectly for the architecture.  Makes you want to buy the furnishings too, doesn' t it?]

[The kitchen looks to be equally cool with stainless everything and limed oak cabinetry.  You get the sense the house isn't all that large, but done very well--which in the opinion of yours truly, beats Greystone quantity over quality any day of the week.]

[A pleasant Playroom keeps everything out of the way of the grown up parts of the house.  From the street, there seems to be a bit of a tri-level feel so one assumes this room is located in some put away part of the home.]

[A nice enough Master...no photos of the associated bath (nor any others) which might give pause to some...I'd imagine they are a little on the small side given the age and layout of the home.  Probably have been redone though--at least one would hope!]

The pool looks pretty spectacular, and certainly the views of Vulcan just next door and the panorama being atop Red Mountain affords must be quite nice.  Listing makes note of a “fenced dog area” which many in this dog-loving town would enjoy.

New to the market just moments ago, a custom residence on one of the city proper’s best streets.  Designed by prestigious Dungan Nequette Architects, the home is less than four years old according to the listing write up.  The construction date of 1939 noted elsewhere most likely refers to the backhouse.

From the outside the home is rather Dungan Nequette-y:  steep roof, multi-paned dark windows, asymmetrical facade.  The drive-through hole in the lefthand wing of the structure  is an interesting feature and one we’ve seen the architects exploit elsewhere since.

Judging from the photos, the interior of this home seems a little disappointing compared to the outside, but some better paint colors and a professional organizer could probably fix that.

[...and presumably the Master Bathroom.  That door to the toilet is probably nice if not for the towel hanging on it for the picture.  Tsk, tsk...]

As mentioned above, the property does feature a guest house…no photos in the listing, but judging from the outside and the looks of the main house, probably a bit of work required.
